Jacobite jacket pattern

Whilst cruising for a pattern to mak a Jacobite Jacket LOML came across this pattern which seems to have some potential. Also has a shirt and "great Kilt" pattern. I'm going to get it and make the jacket.

That is nice! But, keep in mind this pattern would fit best for a 1689 Jacobite; so, no white cockade. That came around for the 1745 rebellion.

If you want a 1745-era jacket, use a typical coat pattern of the period, like this one.

You'd simply make it much shorter to be "highland style", with the final length just below the pockets....

Osprey publishes a couple of books that contain some reference to help modify the coat pattern.

I'm currently working on a new '45 outfit, including custom made basket-hilt. Will post photos of progress.

Coincidently, I ordered the same pattern yestersay to make Captmac a jerkin from what was left of Sara's cape. I've done business with this outfit before. Their patterns are really goos. Well constructed and easy to follow, AND you are doing business with a cottage industry in Madras, Oregon. I like that.

This pattern set is for doublets of the Elizabethan period thru the 1640's. You can maybe stretch 'em to include the first Jacobite rebellion of 1689. The coats of the more well-known rebellion of 1745 ("The '45") were completely different.

Not to detract from the original question: is there a pattern out there for the Rob Roy Style Jacket that Liam Neeson wore in the movie? i know if a place that sells the jacket but i cant touch it seeing as it sells for around 600+ USD.
