Why not start up your own thread in the Advice section with a photo, I'm sure you'll get a bit of response then. I think the outfit sounds fine by the way.

How about a suit made in a favorite tartan with a velvet lapel and collar?
Regards,
Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

What do you all think? I will wear a blouse with jabot, the sash, and my slightly-below-the-knee kilted skirt. And kinda high heels (with spare dancing shoes for after).
I think that will be perfect. There is nothing that indicates a sash should be worn only with a long skirt. Unless you are royalty or a Scottish Country Dancer, the sash should be worn on the right shoulder. Are you going to "hand fast" as part of your ceremony? In that case, you will want to wait to put the sash on after that bit.
Congratulations.
Victoria
Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Thanks all. Victoria told me what I needed to learn: that I may wear a sash with a shorter-than-hostess length skirt. So I shall. We'll be outside on May 30 in Los Angeles, so a long one could be a bit warm anyhow.
But Rex, I must get such a suit made one day-- stunning and delightfully old-fashioned! I'm also enjoying the argyle socks.
