Saving Pennies for XMTS Custom Hose: Who's with me?

On another thread I wondered if anyone had diced or argyll hose to match the XMTS tartan.

In the midst of this discussion came an offer from the Josh (NorCalPiper):

There is no time limit on this, so you can start saving your pennies. If there are any questions, you have to PM me for any further info. -Josh
Looking at what he wrote again today I thought I would put his idea into practice.

    Which idea?

Why not? I'm sure I'm not the only one a bit hesitant to spend over $100 on...socks!

Let's make it easy on ourselves

So since Josh didn't set a time limit I have decided to save through the summer and hopefully order my hose at it's end.

Counting up my change in the wooden bowl on my dresser I came to a grand total of $34.34

So right off the bat I'm just about 1/3 of the way to a pair of diced hose and better than 1/4 of the way to argyll ones.

(By the by , I think we should get colors that go well with both the P/V and wool runs of the XMTS tartan.)

Any other X Markers want to join in with me to save their change for a few months to get something special to go with our XMTS tartan?

We can post our updated total at the end of each month and see how close we are getting.

    So who is in?

    Cheers

    Jamie

    George,

For hose tops they look nice, but they need to be worn with spats.

I was thinking of real hose in colors that matched the XMTS tartan exactly.

    Cheers

I had to think about that too when I ordered my MacCreary-matching hose, but I didn't think of it as $100+ on socks, but rather as something made especially for me. And I thought about all the other ways I could spend $100 and not think too hard about.

$100 is a trip to the grocery store (for milk and juice... how did all that other stuff get in the cart?)

...four or five dinners out with friends.

...1/3 of the cost of a good quality lamp, or two hardware store designer specials.

...three fill-ups at the gas station

    ...four bottles of gin

    ...twenty 5-draw Power Ball/MegaMillions plays

    ...one goose-down comforter

...four gallons of interior latex paint

...eight trips to the cinema (OK, well this one I think about waiting for the DVD)

    Anyway, you get the idea.

Do be mindful of where you stash your pennies. As both a bank employee and one whose house has been broken into and robbed if all loose change, consider the value of your savings accounts to help you meet your goals.

    Regards,
    Rex.

Any way to see pics of another tartan so I better understand the options?

That's a bridge too far IMHO.
