    This is very non-traditional...

I saw this picture posted on someone's kilt blog:

Star Wars storm trooper geek/Indianapolis Colts fan. I'm neither, but the ensemble is rather "interesting."

He's not a typical anything. Not a typical Colts fan, Storm Trooper, or Kiltie.

I see a lot of pictures from conventions of storm troopers in kilts. Where does that originate from, anyway??

Could be from the tie in of Star Wars and Celtic/Scottish mythology when it comes to the bad guys ( the Sidhe (sp?) )

Not sure who did it first or when, but you see it a lot at conventions. Actually you see a lot of kilts in general at Sci Fi cons.
There was a New Orleans Saints trooper (not kilted though) at Babelcon in Baton Rouge last year. Most of the troopers you might see are in the 501st legion, it is a huge Star Wars costuming club that primarily portrays members of the Empire. A lot of them started wearing black Utilikits when not in costume, and I guess it took off from there. I think they have adopted Prince of Wales as an official tartan, USA Kilts made a bunch for them.
