    strange connection

I was out and about today, just doing some shopping. Standing in front of the meat dept. at the local Trader Joes, next to me was a tall woman also looking at the choices. Out of nowhere she says, "I'm liking the kilt. A little late for St. Paddy's day though." Not sure how she got from the kilt to St. Paddy's, but at least it was a friendly talk.

What did you say? Just curious.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

People seem to see the kilt as a generic Celtic clothing style. My wife and I went to TGI Friday's for dinner tonight, and our waitress gave me a button that said "I (shamrock in place of a heart) Fridays." She thought it was fitting, so I pinned it to my kilt, right beside my MacLeod kilt pin.

Oh, and my response to that comment is always "Or too early, depending on your point of view."

Those kinds of comments make me wonder just exactly how long that person has been contemplating what to say and whether to say it to the kilted person or not, and what beside the actual kilt and wearer prompted them to feel the need to comment. Just what exactly is gong on in those little minds.

I would just concentrate of the overall positive part of the remark:

    "I'm liking the kilt.
Just more proof of the power of the kilt
