On April 4, our local Scottish Society is presenting a Children's Scottish Hour at the Camp Hill, PA library. As an educator, I was put in charge, so we hope to have 20 to 30 young people, grades 1 to 5 with parents present. I'll do a slide show of Scottish "stuff" (castles, landscapes, bagpipers, kilts, etc.), just to whet the appetite. Then, some children's stories (I'll read Wee Gillis by Munro Leaf and tell the story of Robert the Bruce and the spider), a demo of bagpiping by the Society's chief piper, some simple flute music by me, a clothing demo as ! put a young lad in a kilt and a young lady in an arisaid, and then some crafts (spider web with spider, stamping activity with map of Scotland, a tartan ribbon pin, etc.). Each parent will receive a Tartan Day pin. I'm hoping for a great turn out. Oh, and I'll be in kilt....for sure!! Happy Tartan Day.....soon to come!
