    Kilt Fashion Show

On comcast.net there is a link to a fashion show for kilts.

Personally I think the models don't get it. If this was my first exposure
to kilts I would be unimpressed.

That's the fashion industry for you. Those shows are just that, shows--entertainment. But I think it's great that the kilt is getting more exposure (no pun intended).

You mean this? It's the Dressed to Kilt show, 2009 edition. It usually involves celebrity models most of whom look uncomfortable in their kilts and on the catwalk. In the Comcast video, the second guy isn't even in a kilt, but some sort of patchwork skirt. I saw a video of this event elsewhere showing some sort of linebacker dude squatting down - really bad form if you are squatting at everyone else's eye level - and it looked like the basting was still in the hem. Very strange this year.

    Regards,
    Rex.

Face it, there is a kilt fashion boom on. Any such fashion boom is gonna blossom on multiple branches...some most unusual.

If you want a sense of the range check out the English book Bravehearts; Men in Skirts.

It covers the wide history of kilts, and men wearing unbifurcated garments, then shows a lot of the contemporary kilt looks and what might best be described as contemporary looks with traditional tartan kilts.

Certainly all not fare for this board, but a great overview of what has happened with kilt fashion from days of yore to the fringes of kit fashion today.

And, there are some wonderful old prints of tartan kilts and military kilts.

One page might soothe and bring joy to the traditional kiltie - the next page may cause apoplexy.

What, like the "White hose and tartan flatcaps with a kilt" page?

    Nope.

How about a tartan kilt worn over tartan trews of a different tartan, topped by a regular length solid sport jacket...and tennis shoes.

I like Mike Myers' willingness to not take himself seriously - and the Team Canada ice hockey jersey rocks! Gotta snap a photo of my tank with one of my jerseys and post it! I agree with funlvnman - if seeing the male model (so obviously disconnected with what he was wearing) was my first foray into kilts I would probably disregard the whole affair.
