It hasn't quite received the public attention that other ethnic or minority celebration days/months so I suspect this is being left up to the individual and his immediate supervisor.

    Thumbs up

I'll be kilted at the Capital in Austin on the 5th for the state Tartan Day events, and on the 6th for the Houston area ceremony at the San Jacinto Battleground monument.

If women can choose to wear a skirt or pants, then why should a guy not have some freedom of dress?

Understand, I don't work in HR and there are undoubtedly things I don't know about regulations that might govern such behavior. Can somebody shed some light on the question?

    Thanks.
I hadn't posted, but our office rules state "slacks and collared shirts" for males and "dresses, skirts or nice slacks" for females, except that "jeans and tennis shoes" are allowed on Fridays.

That's all it really says in the whole dress code, except for a bit that says we have to wear a jacket and tie if we have a business meeting that was planned in advance.

As you can see, it doesn't leave any room for a male to wear anything except "slacks" Monday-Thursday or jeans on Fridays.

As to the big question, which is WHY we have these rules, who knows?

I will be wearig a kilt on monday along with several of my co workers I think. at this point I work 4 days a week 11 hour shifts, and I wear a kilt at least 3 out of four days. If I wear jeans more than 1 day a week people ask if I am feeling ok. so i will definatly be wearing my kilt to work

I haven't decided yet. I just got a new Semi-Trad from USAK in the mail yesterday that I would love to wear, but my wife is dead set against my wearing kilts to the office.

I've never asked the boss about it, but if I decide to do it I think I'll operate on that grand old principal I learned in the Navy that it's MUCH easier to get forgiven than to get permission.

I suppose I'll make up my mind on Monday morning and let the chips fall where they may...

Just got the thumbs up from my director for Monday. He said he has no clue if the official dress code say anything about kilts - he's never actually seen it, either. But if anyone gives any crap he said to point them his direction and he'd take the heat for it.

As long as I swing by his office at some point, heh.

    edit:
Or rather, more to the point that the dress code doesn't somehow forbid it. We're both pretty sure the word "kilt" is no where in it!

I won't be kilted at work, but there's a few of us here in G'boro that are going out for a beer or two in our kilts. Should be a lot of fun.
