I think for some the kilt can help transform and for others, putting on a kilt is a step that comes after a transformation of some kind... but either way a kilt is something you have a relationship with... it's something you wear with a certain kind of "mindfulness".
Thank you for sharing that story.

The power of the kilt is amazing and mysterious!

That is a nice story. The kilt has helped me come out of a shell, too.

It is amazing how a kilt can bring out the best in a person. That person was already there, but the kilt helped bring that "new" person to the fore.

So it seems kilting is a cure for being a curmudgeon. Thanks, great story!

Cool story. The only thing I can say about putting on a kilt was that it felt like the most natural thing in the world to me. I wondered why I never started wearing one sooner. But then I think that I just had to come to a point in my life where I actually wanted to know where I came from, my roots and bloodline. And while I'm basically a mixed-breed (with some Scottish in there for sure), it sometimes feels like I've unearthed a whole other part of me that was locked away somewhere.

How about this angle, while it isn't about you when you help/support these organizations you speak of, however, if you wear your kilt while helping them, it will create a memorable identity which could in the long run, but helpful to the organization. Kind of like the team mascot.
I wear pants when I am representing the organization because the kilt can be a distraction or worse. For example, when handing out flyers for an event, I had about 2 seconds to grab someones attention, explain what we were all about and try to win them over. If they spent those 2 seconds wondering why I was in a kilt, I would get nowhere.
And some people have issues with kilts. If one of those people comes to my bible study, that can definitely get in the way.
When I'm just another member going to a meeting, I'm on my own time, and what I wear is no one's business. But when I am not on my own time, my responsibilities are more important than my preferred clothing.
