Remember to stand back about 20-25 feet to see which you really like at a distance! Colors merge, some stripes vanish, etc.
And is this fabric single or double width?

I personally like the white stripe precisely because it does have two colors on eitherside of it, putting a bit more green on the back instead of predominantly blue. The white stipe seems dominant in the tartan and when pleated to the red you practically lose all the white (except for the horizontal whites, of course). To the white stripe lets the kilt still look similar enough to the original tartan color balance while to the red stripe makes the whole pleated section pretty much red and blue (except for the horizontal green and white, now minor influences compared to the original whole tartan). But that is just me---I am pretty much a pleat to the sett kind of guy anyway.

I like them both. But, do you have 7 yards of double width or single width? If it's single width then you need to be fairly thin to make a knife-pleated kilt. I've found that the heavier the fabric the more it takes to cover the same distance around.

I have 2 pices of 3,5 mtr dobble width. My idea is to make a full tank with a good rice to formal wear and a more casual kilt for daywear and hiking. I'm tinking of doing the formal kilt with the red stripe, and the casual to the sett.

That sounds good. You should definitely stitch them by your hands. This is what serves me the best way, having the same problems with shipping cost and taxes.
Sharp eye, steady hand and good luck!
