Yesterday, in celebration of National Tartan Day, the Scots of the West Valley held a luncheon followed by a whisky tasting presented by Joel Barrera who is a rep for Glenfiddich. Here is a photo just before leaving the house- who knows how presentable I might be later. My table had the honor of having Joel seated with us, even though he doesn't look older than 18- he is extremely knowledgable abut his Scotch among many other spirits. Joel left LA at 3 am to come to the luncheon. His family belongs to Clan Ramsey. He apologized for not having his kilt.

As you might be able to see, we were tasting Glenfiddich 12, 15, 18. From left to right the predominant flavors are fruity, sweet, and woody. Joel had us nose, taste, then add 3 to 4 drops of water. It was amazing how much the water changed the whisky.
We were just a small group of at most 30 people, but that made the experience more informal, and most enjoyable. See at the end I was a little blurred! Then it was off to my next kilted adventure- buying a new car! I had time to unblur by the end of that and I'll post a photo when I get it. Slainte,
Sounds like a good time was had, if I wasn't so bloody busy with work and my sons wedding I might be able to make some of these things.
