    First Kilted Day at Work

What better day than Tartan Day to go to work kilted for the first time. I have no workplace issues regarding kilt-wearing; I'm the boss and I have decided, after today, that I give myself permission to be kilted any time.

It was a long day, with a fair amount of admin. work to catch up on after a busy weekend of Savannah Music Festival shows. I walked to my weekly Rotary lunch meeting, took an hour off in the afternoon for a pint and a toast to Tartan Day at Molly's pub, then back to the theatre to manage "front of house" for a show.

Not a single smirk, or negative comment to be had. In fact, just the opposite. Not too surprising in Savannah, though, where Celtic heritage runs deep. Some folks probably did assume I was a tour guide (lots of costumed tour guides in the Historic District where I work) but all in all, a great day... the first of many.

    A couple of pics:

Great photos! You look very appropriate for work. Who knows, maybe the kilt will become your signature look at work.

Thanks... I'm thinking the same thing. I'm still waiting on a couple of daywear jackets and some more hose; with those in hand I'd say I'll be in a kilt more often than not.

And yes... another kilt is already in the works. I'm fully addicted and there's no turning back!

Very nice. The outfit looks great! Is the waist coat corduroy? Nice mixture of textures

Thanks. The waistcoat is actually velvet... had to really dig deep in the closet to unearth it and it was a miracle it still fit around my middle. But I was determined to put something together that would pass muster at my Rotary meeting and at work on Tartan Day. Until my jackets come in, I'll be in waistcoat mode. I prefer the look at the kilt top covered by a waistcoat, or, if uncovered, dressed with a belt but the one belt I have is nowhere near your standards, cavscout. I'm content to wait on the one I've got on order with you and improvise with some of my old vests until then.

Hope you can make it to the Savannah Games.

Thanks, cousin! I truly love the tartan, it's the Roxburgh District tartan in honor of an immigrant ancestor on my mother's side.

Btw, in honor of my new credo, "You can never have too many kilts", my MacArthur Ancient tank is already in the works. My kiltmaker is going to pleat up a bit to sett and to stripe (per your suggestion...thanks!), so we can confer on the choice.
    all the best

    Looks nice
how did the Rotarian's react? Rotary has an official tartan, if interested, and the President elect is from Scotland.
I was hoping to be able to wear a kilt on Clan Macfie day as it happens to correspond with my Rotary meeting day. But I can't get the kilt in time
