I have one... curiousity has bitten me more than once. DON'T DO IT

It's basically fishing string hung from a cheesy cast cantle on a poorly made leather-like backing. It curls a lot, looks really thinned out... waste of money.

I bought a used horse hair sporran from ebay. Real horse hair or it's not worth wearing, since it's supposed to look formal.
