Here's my Inverness cape, expertly made by Vmac. This shot shows the label inside.

This is my "Napoleon" pose. It shows the cape off better than the other shot.

Yes, I know I've broken some rules here. From the top:
I'm wearing a Balmoral with a PC jacket.
    I'm wearing a four-in-hand tie with a PC.
    I'm wearing a non-formal sporran with a PC.
    I'm wearing non-formal hose with a PC.

The reasons for such blatant dereliction are: the PC is the only black jacket I have that "goes" with the kilt. My suit coat is just too long.
The tie matches the kilt. It's red and blue diagonal stripes, although it looks purple in the picture.
    I don't own a "formal" sporran. I wish I did.
My red cable hose are in the wash, because I wore them to church Sunday.

Please overlook what's under the cape. I'm trying to show it off, not me.
Thanks again to Victoria for making this cape for me, and for accommodating my last-minute requests.

    Piperdbh,
It takes time to have the "perfect outfit". Using what you have available, you have pulled off a dashing look. Be proud of what you have. The hose are fine with the PC. White hose would be a bigger issue. From what I see, the only real issue would be with the necktie. All else is fine. Really.

Thanks, SteveB. I'm still acquiring and inventing bits and pieces.

The tie matches the kilt. i think the angle of the picture (or maybe the distance) make it look purple. And, I know better than to wear that kind of tie with a PC, although I could say it's an homage to a certain septagenarian Scottish 007 actor who shall remain nameless.

Nice photos, a VMac Cape is really something to be proud of, and yours is no exception. A very formal look with the chrome buttons you have, wear it well.

Thanks for the responses. Vmac really did a fine job with this cape.

By the way, I'm not usually as grey as I look in these pics. I was getting over a sinus infection and I haven't been out in the sun much. Give me a couple of weeks, and I'll regain some "color".

The cape is very fine indeed.

There is no problem wearing a balmoral with the PC, none at all. You are out-of-doors, and the temperature obviously is cold enough to warrant the inverness cape, so of course you would want to wear a bonnet! The problem is when the bonnet is worn indoors: then it becomes a faux pas.
