I'm thinking that a white shirt would be best, and perhaps a solid tie, the sleeves are a bit long but that should not be a big problem.

Jacket sleeve length is fine, don't "fix" it. That is traditional jacket sleeve length (to first joint of thumb). There's another thread, back a ways, about jacket sleeve length in which Johnny Carson was blamed for shortening jacket sleeves so he could "shoot" cuffs.

I think that if I was to wear either my US Army tartan, or WPG Gordon Highlander and a tuxedo shirt with down turned collar and black bowtie with either the same sporran or my black rabbit sporran would make the ensemble rather dashing.

Chris, It's Theresa hi-jacking Wally's acct again. I don't think any of it looks bad, but I think a white shirt, a tie with a smaller stripe or pattern would be better. For me, the tie is overpowering the tartan. While I love that sporran, not so much with the formal look. But then again.....what the heck do I know? I will get back in the kitchen where I belong before Wally finds out I was here.

The first thing I noticed was the striped tie with your plaid kilt. That's a risk I wouldn't take.
And I, too, think your jacket looks good.

Rogerson, your sleeves are too long. All most all of my suits are "bespoke", that is, they were tailored to fit me. Not one of them has sleeves that hang to my knuckles. The exceptions are my overcoats where the sleeves are that long, for the simple reason of warmth.
I'd suggest having the sleeves brought up to somewhere around the bend in your wrist. The sleeve length of your uniform is probably your best guide for length.
As McMurdo has suggested I'd go with the white shirt, and not worry about the sleeve length. As far as the tie is concerned, I like the stripes, but a black tie might be a tad more "Ancient and Accepted" looking.
Enjoy the induction ceremony.

I agree with McMurdo and MacMillan of Rathdown. White shirt, solid color tie. Then shorten the sleeves another time.

I see nothing wrong with the neck tie, but I believe the sleeves are too long, perhaps by an inch or more.
Note the length in this photo:
