Does your wife/girlfriend like the kilt?

Talking with my wife the other night I asked, "So what do you think of me in the kilt?" She just shrugged her shoulders and said "I don't know what about it?"

This was not the reaction I was hoping for. So what you?

Does your wife/girlfriend go nuts for the kilt? Don't really care? Or dislike the pleated garment?

My girlfriend enjoys it. She loves the funny reactions people have when they see me in a kilt. I have started wearing it so much though she forgets I am wearing one at times. So if someone just yells something about it at me she has to think about it.

I met my wife (to be) while wearing a kilt at Scottish Country Dancing some 26 years ago. She has always liked me in a kilt, though she hasn't yet understood why I like to wear one when not attending "Scottish" activities.

My wife generally likes my kilts other than an occasional eye-rolling moment.

My older daughter convinced me to buy my first kilt (an AmeriKilt). Her boyfriend wears kilts.

My younger daughter thinks that they are eccentric at best; but only one of the many idiosyncratic behaviors of her dad over the years.

My friends and acquaintances of the female gender generally like me and other men in kilts.
Mostly for American rather than Scottish heritage reasons. Such as:

• They look better than some other apparel that men wear.
• They are less boring than common men’s clothing.
• They add a festive air (and an interesting conversational subject) to events.

Female strangers often grant an automatic conversational intimacy and trust.
A half-guess: I think that they assume (initially at least) that a kilt wearer has self-esteem; and will behave as a gentleman. And is fun.

My wife loves me in my kilts, Out of the four that I own right now she has bought me all but one. And it was her idea that I should start wearing them...

I don't think my wife minds, but I don't think she goes goofy over them, either.

She sometimes asks me why I'm wearing one when, say, I put one on on Saturday morning to go to Target. Not in a mean way; just in a "if there's not a reason, why's he got it on?" kind of way, like they're still just for special occasions. That may go away the more I wear them.

Now, she likes them when I dress up because she tells me how nice I look more so than if I was just wearing a blazer and slacks. I also know she appreciated it the other night when I wore it to a fund raising auction. We sat at her company's table with her supervisor, whose last name was Dunnichay. Trust me, we had plenty to talk about.

My wife was actually the driving force in my kilt kollection. I wanted one in my family tartan, and I wanted a contemporary one- at first- because I assumed that she would want me in pants at least some of the time- and because she said that she would want me in pants some of the time. We got married with me wearing my Amerikilt, and although she said she knew she would like it, she had no idea just how much she would like it. So to my joy, she told me that I needed to get more, and that I need to ditches da britches. SO- to make a long story even longer- I wear kilts all the time now with my wife's wholehearted endorsement. I have a USAK Albannach wool because she thought it would look hot on me and all but insisted that I get one. (I say that like it took convincing... I'm a huge fan of the band. It's just that money is really tight right now with her not working and my hours having gotten cut by %20. I was able to spare some of my tax return for the Mighty Nach kilt.)

So yeah... I'm pretty sure she likes it... since she makes fun of me for dressing like my 13 year old daughter on the rare occasions that I wear pants. This is mainly for house maintanance and such.
