yeah
I have found the elastic garters to be uncomfortable, itchy, and leaves an impression in the skin for hours. Are these more comfy?

Looks like excellent work. I'm a "Rendezvouser" of long standing. I have a set of inkle woven garter ties that I wear with my "moggans" (sp) at the rendezvous and reenactments. Another interesting choice, although much more labor/cash intensive would be finger woven, in colors to compliment the kilt of course. I'm looking at a powder horn strap I'm currently fingerweaving out of hemp, and thinking it's almost the right width for garter ties (and also, how far out of practice I am. Hemp is not as forgiving of tension errors as wool.).
All skill and effort is to no avail when an angel pees down your drones.

WAY more comfortable. I hardly every wear flashes any more. I don't have any of these but I have several sets of garter ties. They are THE way to go in my opinion.
With a flat cap of course.

I have a set of tartan flashes that came with my kilt but I wear them rarely. I don't use them with elastic, but rather use a wide, soft woven shoe lace, threaded through their tops, as a garter tie. It makes them more comfortable.
But my first choice are still the garter ties (soon to be augmented by some of these great ties). Next to them, IMHO cheap flashes look like post-it notes with notches in them.

Disregarding my BIAS, although I have several sets of "flashes ( that came with my kilts ) I wear them VERY VERY seldom. In fact when I go "out & about,& I choose not wear my "TIES" ( I also have 5 sets of "plain Ties from MATT ),I usually wear a tie made from a ribbon ( none of it shows )

Those are great. It's the small details like these that really stand out when you're sporting kilted attire.
