    Kiltmaker in Northern California needed

Hello, I just bought my son his first kilt, secondhand. Its a good quality kilt, originally made in West Calder by R&I MacDonald Kilt Makers. It needs to be let out in the waist. I don't want to trust just any old body with this kilt. Does anyone know of a kiltmaker in the Northern California area that they would recommend for an alteration? Thanks.

I don't know of any kilt makers in your area, but welcome to the forum.

About how much does your son's kilt need to be let out? Resizing a kilt an inch or two is not difficult, but any more than that may not be possible.

An inch or two would be adequate. He can squeeze into it now on the last holes in the buckles, but it isn't comfy or a good look. I could hardly sleep last night for thinking about the difficulties in letting out his kilt. I was wondering if there's such a thing as extensions for the buckles, or maybe just new buckles that are longer. But I don't know if that would make it fit oddly.
Thanks for the welcome and for the reassuring words.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate how helpful you've all been. I've sent an email to Ms. Stuehmeyer and with luck I'll hear back from her. I also checked out the kilt straps. I'll probably get straps as a quick fix since my son can't wait to wear his kilt, and the local Highland Games are this weekend. And I'm hoping Ms. Stuehmeyer, or someone she recommends, will provide a more permanent solution.
I'm really very impressed with this site, thanks again!

Oh my gosh! I really am quite thick sometimes!
Barb T. I just noticed you're a co-author with Ms. Stuehmeyer. Thank you so much for your reply, I'm so pleased you'd take the time. You, or your friend, are exactly what I'm looking for, talented seamstresses with kilt expertice.

And BTW, I just love your last name, very Tolkienesque.
