Yeap, start slow and build your base slowly, then encourge (challenge) others to start their groups under your umbrella name.. Unified under one title, but give each group it's own identity... Like the St Louis Kilties or maybe the MacRabble Volunteers.. Or whatever just to have fun with it.

yeah
I shouldn't have called this thread "Charity" since this is not what I want. Nor do I want money. Just a group of people helping out.

I love the idea and it has crossed my mind in the past as well. I think that if we could get this organized (and maybe make it a forum/social group on this board, but preferably it would have its own website and community) that it would be great to have a national/international organization of Kilted Charity & Cause Supporters with regional chapters raising money or providing labor (i.e. providing support) for local cause/charity events. I also think it would be kind of nice to have an annual organization-wide fund-raising for a big cause, like ending hunger, or AIDS, etc., etc. (just a thought).
I think something like Kilted For A Cause or the Kilted Effort would be good for a name.

Great idea! Prior to my current yob with 'the government', I worked for non-profit community-based organizations for 14 years. Charities and non profit groups can use all the help they can get.
Personally I think having a kilted rabble involved in any of the many 'walks' that are held in the spriong and summer would be a very good way to help out, and bring awareness to kilts/kilt wearing. Good way to keep active as well.

I think a separate forum to discuss charities could be useful. I'm already actively involved in three charities, being a housing association, a sports initiative and an aviation museum, the first two of which I take part in kilted. I also do two annual sponsored walks, one for a Diabetes charity and the other for a homeless persons charity. Personally I would wish you good luck with your project, although I don't have the space in my life to participate in yet another charity.
