As I understand it and I don't really, generally speaking the "gay" scene is not sympathetically understood in northern Scotland and reactions can be more than verbally hostile.

I didn't look anything even remotly resembling traditional I looked like what I am/was a teenager just finished work standing in Mc Donalds the only difference was my kilt instead of jeans

I feel the individual who started this whole thing needs more training, and should have never brought her personal feelings into the work place. After all laws are laws. What you wear is your and only your business!

I have had most of my kilts refered to as "skirts" by the less informed, most of the time there is no harm intended.

Sounds like my neighborhood, and the towns I grew up in.

I am guessing at what Highland Pride means, but I should imagine that there is a certain merit in, safety in numbers.

Whoops! Back the truck up there. Jordan doesn't tell us anything about the secretary's attitudes toward gay people other than a misguided notion that a guy out with another guy in a kilt might be gay. Consider for a moment that it was her bumbling attempt to show support by demonstrating how easy it is for her to discuss this newfound "information."

Yeah, she may need more training alright, but the lesson should be in tact.

    Regards,
    Rex.

I would ignore a statement, assuming it was something that didn't set well with me, but not the person. I can very much understand that people will have differing views on all kinds of things. I can set aside my own feelings and views on something enough to be civil toward other people. I also would not want to treat someone poorly because of the beliefs or views they were raised with and that are a context of their life.

You know... try to get along and be nice. :ootd:
