    Waistcoat On It's Own Hanger?

I was rearranging my closet and a question came to me.

Do you hang your waistcoats on the same hanger as a jacket, or on it's own hanger. For example, putting the three button waistcoat on a coat hanger, then putting the Prince Charlie coatee on top of it; not that I have a Prince Charlie or a three button waistcoat.

I was putting the jacket and waistcoat on the same hanger to save a little space, but I've started putting the waistcoats on their own hanger now. It works out better for me.

I put them on the same hanger and haven't experienced any problems doing that.

If the waistcoat matches the jacket (kilt or otherwise), I put them together on the same hanger. If the waistcoat doesn't match a particular jacket I put it on its own hanger.

I share a smallish walk-in closet with my wife, so anything to save room. We're going to have a space crisis before too long, now that kilts are being added to the mix.

Matching waistcoats go with their jacket. There's no shoulder padding which may get crushed or deformed, so there's no danger of damaging the waistcoat. Odd waistcoats I put on seperate hangers.

    Cheers,

I agree with Nick with an addition. All my suits go in suit bags or garment protectors or whatever you want to call them. Most have a clear view window on the front so you can see what is inside. I also tie a highly coloured shipping label round the hanger on the outside so I can see at a glance what I've got without having to open each bag. A small cedar block or a few mothballs in the bottom to keep any insects away and the job is done. All my bags have come from eBay and I have never paid more than £1 each.

    Regards

    Chas

Interesting. Here's why I started putting the waistcoat on it's own hanger. The waistcoat goes on me first, then the jacket. If the waistcoat is under the jacket on the hanger, I have to take the jacket off the hanger and find a place for it while I put on the waistcoat. The jacket has fallen on the floor a couple of times while trying to do this juggling act.

Just for the kilt jackets, I have put the waistcoat on a smaller hanger and hung it from the pants bar on the kilt jacket's hanger, and it takes up no more space than before.

Right at the moment, I only have one waistcoat for my regular suits. It does match a gray three piece suit, but it has to be shared with the other suits. My two kilt jackets do have matching waistcoats, but now that I think of it, I could probably swap the waistcoats for a different look.
