Kind of off to the side a bit...this topic got me remembering and feeling a bit nostalgic. I took inventory of the pipes I have left and googled Balkan Sobranie.

Turns out it was discontinued some years back (I haven't smoked for over thirty-five years) and it is now considered the creme de la creme and holy grail of pipe tobaccos...who knew? In a forum I ran across, someone said that occasionally a tin (?) can be found on EBay...presumably the old original mixture in the white tin...selling for upwards of $650.00. Figured it worked out to $32.00 a bowl. [sigh]

Just as well, I really didn't want to start in again. I'd be happy just to smell a freshly opened tin once again

in my bowl: whatever smells good at the tobacco shop. I average smoking once every 6-8 weeks, and don't keep up with brands or blend names.
In my glass: water. Smoking dries my throat out something fierce. Now why is that?

A good Cuban; knew there was some reason to go to Mexico, or a La Gloria Cubana, Nicaragua I think. As for my glass, an Orange Pekoe or Earl Gray, although I do enjoy a Herbal mix of Red Zinger, peppermint, ginseng and cranberry juice, very refreshing and cleansing.ith:

Something DIET fills my glass and my pipe collection has been gathering Dust for years now. Still love the quiet evenings out and don't begrudge those who enjoy a pint and a good bowl of smoke.
