Guys, if you're not inside a theater, it's OK to name the play.

And kilts would be incredibly, blatantly anachronistic---but fun. And the 4 patrons who knew they were anachronistic would think you were ignorant, unless you got a licensed dramaturge to write them a long essay about it. But fun.

Yes Patternreview.com. No one else on there had ever heard of an X-Kilt.

I am the resident melodrama costumer at a local theater. I work a day job but my heart is with the theater. I love it because where else can you play dress us with real people.

BTW Chas, is there any way you could send good meat pies my way? Or even good fish and chips? I spent a year in NZ studying costuming and got the taste for real british food. Since coming back to TX good brit food is seriously lacking.

As the son of a former Shakespearean actor, I was just going to add that about not naming the play inside a theatre.

And for a blatantly anachronistic, but fun take on "the Scottish play" (sorry, old habits die hard!), take a look at Orson Welles' 1948 version -- my Dad's favourite version.

AND, if you do have the misfortune of saying "that name" in a theatre, here's what you should do:

And now I'm off to Great Birnam Wood...

When I tell people that I am the Exec. Director of a theatre, they assume I run a theatre.
    This is a common mistake.
In truth, the theatre runs me. And you can usually assume, if I'm awake, I'm probably in or near the theatre.

Here's a more pertinent question: can one email, text, post, IM, or otherwise type the name of the Scottish play while in the theatre, or is all that just another form of speaking the name of said play?
