In my own defense, we held a fund-raiser Sunday evening billed as "garden party attire." I was the only kilt, but the afternoon temps were pushing 90, and we allocated our full weekly quota of seersucker suits, summer frocks, and big floppy hats with attitude. Still pondering the concept of a seersucker kilt suit. Edit: did I forget to mention dirty bucks? Plenty of those, but no white bucks for some reason.
White shoes are usually only worn after May 1st, except in the tropics and the navy.
Historical tit-bit: It's called a "seersucker suit" because Sears will sell it to any sucker who comes along! (from the book, "So You're Going To Wear a Suit", by Thomas J. Charlesson, Grey Flannel Press, (third expanded edition) 1973.)
