How Heavy is "Pants" heavy?
'Allo. With the games coming up in about a month, I figured I should go ahead and make a new x-kilt for the occasion. I considered buying some fabric from this place - Fabric.com but am not really sure how heavy "pants" weight is. If you click on any of the colors, under fabric weight, it says "pant."
Has anybody used this for an X-kilt? If not, are there any other better online resources for good poly/cotton in a good weight?
Thanks!
Tony

8-10oz weight is considered light or summer weight pants.
10-12 oz weight is typical Dockers weight pants.
14-16 oz is typically heavier weight denims to almost canvas.
I would say that that fabric is a 10-12 oz weight. My fellow seamstresses are buying that for making "Docker" weight pants. HTH's

Hmm... 10-12 would be sufficient. Maybe I'll just have to order some and see if it'll work.
Thanks again.

I have some actual "Dockers" brand fabrics here in my shop. When actually weighed out it comes to 13oz per fabric yard. (36" long X 60"wide)
This is the lightest Poly/Cotton I will use for one of my Contemporary Kilts.
I have purchased fabrics from sellers like the one you give the link to and their "Pant" weight fabric actually weigh 7-8oz on the same scale.
Please, please do your self a favor and buy the best, highest quality fabrics you can find. The difference in total cost of fabric only a $20.00 bill.
In the end you will have a Kilt you can be proud of.

I wear the kilt because: Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

Do you have any sources for quality, heavy weight poly/cotton?

Yes, please do send resources. I have had a devil of a time finding good twill fabrics. I can find everything else, but not twill.

Precisely. My first two X-kilts were made from Cotton Poplin, which although heavy enough, does not make the nicest kilt, and wrinkles horribly.
The third probably had some Lycra in it, as it just didn't "feel" right. It was also pretty lightweight, and has been sentenced to "lounge" duty.
