Actually, horn buttons are VERY readily Avail.

NOTE - You might also think "black" horn instead of Natural, for your "dress Jacket

Imitation = Most "Craft Store" outlets

REAL = Many Muzzle loading Traders & Sutlers Here is a GOOD one - http://www.crazycrow.com/mm5/merchan...de=520-600-000

Here is a site you can "peruse" - http://www.coon-n-crockett.org/linklist.htm

    Thanks Mr P.
Wait a sec - "Craft Store outlets"..... You mean I could walk into a store and peruse in person rather than attempt to figure out size and colour on a screen?????
I'm so far gone into the interwebs I didn't even think of that...
(and I'm not even being sarcastic)

Buying something retail in a real store? Oh, c'mon. No one does that anymore. What a concept!!

I made some from the surface of nicely textured elk antler I got from Squeaky McMurdo instead of using cross section cuts, they are more trouble, but worth it I think, in the nicer look. If I can teach my kids to do it they may become available ? Probably not quite as inexpensive as some of the links though. Thanks for the great links, Puffer !

I really like antler buttons. Horn comes in a multitude of colours as well, if one wants to look. Of course silver is nice too, but expensive. The chrome ones are kind of bright for my taste.

I've seen several jackets out of the 30s & 40s with Brown leather "Football" buttons. I'm getting a conversion done on a Brown Harris tweed and am going with these buttons. Also doing the blue Harris Tweed, this one with the horn buttons.
