I wear starched button down shirts, wranglers that stack a little, Tony Llama boots and I have a Stetson, and I dress exactly like most of the people I run with.. I can saddle and ride a horse, I have even done some penning. I guess I am a pretender...LOL

Sorry to bust your bubble, Jock. Just last week we got electricity and heard about new-fangled thing called a teleophone.

Ah yes the telephone. I think the Scots had a hand in inventing that. Some chap called Bell, I believe.

No, some Canadian named Bell . I think the Scots invented tele-marketers that call during the supper hour.

The last time I was dumbstruck at answering a query about my kilt was at the Celtic Women Lipsynching Concert here in Houston. As the crowd was walking to our cars after the performance, a woman behind me pulled me on my jacket sleeve and asked what "chapter" I was with. I had to think and the quickest thing I could think of was The Houston Highland Games Association.

Y'know, I kinda have to agree with Dixie. While boorish, unless she was actively being condescending I think the worst offense she displayed was ignorance and lack of understanding. And poor word usage, sure.

Rather than being flabberghasted, why not take the opportunity to educate her? It'd kill some time in the elevator, at least, and there'd be one more person in the world who knows what's going on the next time she sees the kilt.

Rudeness is a virus. It perpetuates itself and spreads quicker than we'd like sometimes.

You are most correct but was in Brantford Canada that he invented the telephone (nice kayaking area). He went on to work on many other great things in Canada including work with the deaf, hydrofoils the first flight in Canada (that we just celebrated the 100th anniversary) amongst numerous things. truly a great and remarkable man. We're claiming him as our own .
