Back on the River - and More

Long time friends in town, spent the last three days showing them around the area. Lots of fun and a vacation day today.

USA Kilts Firefighter's Memorial semi-trad on the Colorado River in Glen Canyon, Arizona.

Not much of the kilt, but at Lees Ferry, Arizona at the end of the raft trip.

A bit fuzzy from the slow shutter speed in low light, but USA Kilts Ireland's National in semi-trad in Upper Antelope Canyon - a slot canyon on the Navajo reservation.

Lonely Dell up Paria Canyon from Lees Ferry, Arizona where the families that ran the old ferry across the Colorado River lived. Ireland's National again.

Hiking to Horseshoe Bend overlook of Glen Canyon yesterday. This is 1,200 feet above where the picture with the raft above was taken today.

Still have another half day of kilted fun ahead so off to it!

Okay, forgot one. Here's a pic of a baby California Condor taken from Navajo Bridge over Marble Canyon of the Colorado River.

The Vermillion Cliffs area around Marble Canyon is a Condor release area. The baby's are smaller and have black heads. Yes, those are number tags in his/her wings. All the condors are marked for identification.

That first kilt looks great. The tartan looks a little like Royal Stewart, but more subdued and dignified.

That is beautiful country. I miss being out West, but we do get a fix about once a year, visiting my sister in Santa Fe. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice Ron. You're reminding me again why I like the desert southwest so much!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Just back from dinner. Took my guests out to Wahweap Marina to see the views. There was a houseboat up on dry land so folks can go aboard and see what they're like.....fun to dream.
