    Converting a tuxedo jacket?

I see alot of threads on converting a sports jacket, but has anyone tried converting a tux jacket? It seems like it would be relatively simple to convert a tail coat since it's already short in front?

There are several threads on converting Tuxes to kilt jackets, as well as using an Eton or similar jacket as a kilt jacket.

There is a new section of the forum, in fact, where these thread's information and instructions is being re-posted.

Pretty simple really. Cut off the tails. Add some buttons and epaulettes. Done.

I had a tail coat converted, but I couldn't get the buttons delivered in time for the event, so I wore it with balck silk-covered buttons, and it looked fine. I'm probably the only one who noticed.

But I can atest that converting a tail coat really is quite simple, and the greatest expense you'll encounter is the cost of the bottons.

P.S. I later purchased a PC and have been wearing it for some time now.

Thanks everybody. I'm going to spend some time looking over all those tutorials and finished conversions.

Not sure if I'll bother with the epaulettes this go around, but it'll depend on what I end up finding as a source jacket. (Same with the buttons). We're not necessarily going for an authentic PC, but we'll see. I'm hoping to find something with a vest/waistcoat that matches (I hate trying to coordinate black fabrics from different dye lots)
