I think a tweed Argyll with wastecoat and tie would do well in that scenario. You'll stand out, but that's pretty normal in a kilt, unless your at the highland games.

Tweed would be tempting as I just received my Harris tweed A&w, but not Houston in June (even though it's an indoor event)! Thanks, though.
