Nice looking pattern. I'm a member of the KAL group but no time to do anything about the kilt hose (that I promised myself). Hope this one goes smoothly for you.

Thanks, Mein. This one's a Knit-A-Lone, no YahooGroup posts

Second cuff completed -- yeah! they look alike! (gotta celebrate the small victories) -- and into the first garter area. Have to put them down and attend to other business for a while, but I'll get back to them asap and continue posting my progress. The more I work with this yarn, the more I like it!

Knit-A-Lone! That's funny! (to others, KAL means Knit-A-Long)

Yes a victory nonetheless, indeed!! I still have an unfinished scarf that I'm making for a friend who was diagnosed with leukemia. I intend on having several of our bowling buddies to knit a little bit into the scarf and then when it's finished I'll present it to him...

Next milestone, both done down to where the calf shaping begins.

These are going to look wonderful with the tweed that (ahem) needs to become a kilt one of these days. Put the cart before the horse, I fear, when most would have put the kilt before the hose Ah well, they will all eventually come together!

I'm very impressed by anyone knitting anything, it's a closed book to me, but these are brilliant! Look forward to seeing the finished result.

Maybe on my next attempt I'll keep track of the hours. I'm 7 or 8 days into these, working on them almost every day, sometimes 5 or 6 hours a day.

    Or maybe I won't keep track. . .

Already thinking about the next. . . I may try some more elaborate cuffs, but just end at the garter area to be worn with "store-bought" hose. Looking at my posts, that much only took 3 or 4 days. It's this length of leg that seems to go on forever!

Yes, I figure that at market rate for my time, I had about $2000 in my first pair of kilt hose. Please don't anyone tell Alan about my $2000 pair of socks, though.

That is a well established property of kilt hose, alas!

Looks really good! Keep posting pictures!

Although I remain amazed at "them strange foreigners" (said with a loving smile) who keep insisting on knitting on four pins. Over here in Scandinavia we use five pins, stitches spread on four and work around with the fifth. Probably a preference issue, but when I used to live in Scotland I kept having to buy two sets of pins to have one workable set for my technique (and a spare pin in case I wanted to go Arran). I have a lot of spare single pins in British sizes if anyone's interested ;-) Goes to show: You can change your habits only that far.
