How do I get Skype
All,
I have an opportunity to have an interview for a new job next week. The gentleman who will be interviewing me is in the UK and would like to do it on Skype. I am not the most technically savvy person, but I think if some one talked me through it I could hook it up. So if anybody has the time to help me out I would greatly appreciate it.
Cheers!

don't forget the headset so you can hear and speak. If this is a job interview that cut down on the echo, by using a decent headphone/mic set.

And if your computer does not have a built in webcam go down and get one.
but a caution,,,,If you hold your interview using video,,,you should dress for it just as you would a face-to-face interview.
And don't forget to clean up the room behind you. They will be able to see it and a messy room says just as much as if you were sitting there in the interview in your bathrobe.

And don't be enjoying a glass of scotch at the same time! As wonderful a tool as Skype is there are things to be aware off. I find that with a webcam it can be quite distracting. First off you're speaking eye to eye, as you're constantly staring at the screen to see the image of him he's staring at your forehead and vise-versa. There is a few second delay with Skype (even without a webcam) so you'll always end up talking over each other, you'll contantly be saying "I'm sorry, go ahead" as he is saying it. I also find with a webcam that is constantly freezes and ocassionally loses connection booting you off. As you're new to Skype and obviously this is an important meeting perhaps you should practice a conversation with someone on XMarks. Call Steve at Freedom Kilts, he's never working and enjoys the excuse to prove it and hey why not order a kilt from him at the same time! He makes a good product and might have some Hudson's bay tartan still availiable.
