That's great - it's good that you found something to appreciate in it. Something can be imbued with meaning, but that doesn't necessarily make it attractive. The same colors might have been arrayed in a different pattern and could have turned out to be quite a handsome tartan.
But as you say, horses for courses, or something like that.

For a moment, with it's name, I had hope that it might actually be easier to find that tartan, but nope. But I see it really does have green in it.

Crimson? I was thinking scarlet myself. I noted the distinct lack of anything Buckeye in it... I was a little disapointed by that. There is orange and blue in the Colorado... I know my dad will want one, though- he bleeds scarlet and grey- as do three generations of my family.

Yes, there was something "Buckeye" in it...the Ohio state flag, and the colours of the US Flag, under which many Buckeyes have fought and died and in many case, bled scarlet.

That is one of the ugliest tartans that I've ever seen.

Different horses for courses. I don't think it's that bad.
Would you like someone to say that about your tartan?

No. I've had my tartan insulted, and it doesn't feel good.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

I'm a loyal Ohioan; I'd like to actually see what it looks like in a kilt before passing judgment. An "Ohio" kilt is something I would consider, for sure.
That said, I'd love an Ohio State tartan - I'm an alum, fan, and employee (kinda).
Need a good yellow and black tartan for our local soccer team too.

I went to Eastern Michigan, but we have the same colors as Mich. State, and that school has its own tartan, wouldn't mind that in a kilt, if not fer the cost.
