    Thanks for posting the photo. What tartan is that? It doesn't look like the Fraser I'm familiar with.

    Well, actually it's the Modern MacGillivray. Hmm, why, you ask?

    When the band was formed, it was originally called the 78th Regiment of Foot, Fraser's Highlanders (named for the regiment that came to the Mohawk Valley in the 1750s and 1760s), and the band originally had Black Watch kilts. In the early 80s, the 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band was incorporated in Toronto, and the names of the two bands caused endless confusion at competitions. So our band ultimately decided to change its name to Mohawk Valley Frasers.

    In the early 90s, the band simply picked a tartan that it liked, and they chose the Modern MacGillivray.
