In a general way, from the stories and accounts I've been reading on this forum over the years, I think one would have less chances being identified with the gay community in France than in the United States.

French men look at me with awe, respect, sometimes with envy...

French ladies simply go nuts !

French teenagers... well... they're teenagers !

Not something that American eBay could get away with... but I digress. There are French members of this board, one of whom is a kiltmaker, herself. So it seems to me that you shouldn't have any problems; especially considering the history between France and Scotland.
Nekkid!!!! Em.... where did you say that site was?????

Wearing a kilt in France is fine and as pointed out in earlier posts they seem to understand the concept of a man in a kilt. I was reading an article the other day that suggested not being kilted in Rome, apparently it is illegal for a man to wear a dress or skirt in Rome. Some Italian police officers may not comprehend the difference between a kilt and skirt or dress, you may want to avoid Rome. Any one ever gone kilted in Rome or Italy?

    Red face Being Fair

    Fellow Rabble,

To be fair, these "strange kilt ads" seem to be on all the European EBays, not just France; I just noticed them first on Ebay France.

I also found a nice casual kilt in Breton tartan on EBay France that I plan to purchase as soon as I lose some more weight. Maybe an Ermine Kilt Pin too. The vendor was quite pleasant in his reply to my inquiry and agreed to ship to US and Canada. It should be noted that I placed my inquiry in French to avoid being "arrogant" (as Mr. Obama calls us). The vendor even invited me to visit his shop in Paris (Maisson du Kilt), and I do plan to visit in July. Courtesy pays big dividends.

    Cheers, ColMac

Well, that's good that it worked out. Hope your trip goes well.

I don't know anything about Europe Ebay...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

    wow

This is the wierdest thread I have taken part in. I figure if someone assumes me as gay in a kilt, then doesn't that make them ignorant? So why care what the homophobes think... kilt on!

I just hope the twill will be right side up... We've seen "upside down" tartans on some of their kilts.

    Just my 2 cents.
