Buttons, buttons, who's got the buttons?

    Hi All,
I'm working up the grit to dive in and do Jacket conversion with a herringbone tweed thrift store find. In Our dear F.H.C.A.G's conversion thread of a similar jacket (which can be found here http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/c...693/index.html ) there are some lovely buttons that are used. Does anyone (Panache? Star?) know the source for these? It would be great to have a set similar for this jacket. Thank you!

    Aaron

I second BeeDee's reply. I used these for my conversion. They are top quality.

The two sizes of round celtic buttons she used were purchased at JoAnne's Fabrics.

    Thanks!

Many thanks guys. Jaime, that's exciting to know they are from Joann's. They have a store here, and I'll be sure to go by and check their stock. Beedee, Big Mikey, and Eujeankilt thanks for the heads up on the websites. I'll be sure to give them a look through as well. The helpful and courteous community here at X Marks is really something special, and I appreciate your help and kindness!

Once again, men of substance agree. buttondrawer.com has a boatload of Celtic buttons that also make nice decorations for sgians dubh.

It's my experience that Joann's (and other fabric stores) selection of buttons is highly dependent on dictates of fashion. If you want anything other than a basic button, buy it when you see it, you'll never see it again. And buy extra, so when you lose one, you can replace it.

The buttons Three Feathers have are great on jackets or sgians. I like their thistle buttons better than others I have seen. I had to call to order (couldn't do it online) but they shipped them right out. Also got the Reiver some lovely pewter earrings she really likes

Probably should quit referring to her as the Reiver. Her Scott blood may get up and lay waste to what little hair I have left.
