Going to a club in a kilt...should be interesting.

A good friend of mine has a weekly acoustic guitar gig at a local place in town. It is a three story club with a basement where each floor is a different theme and music. He is playing in a Far East themed basement where he plays a lot of solo guitar stuff and a friend sings, mainly for background music. So, in showing my support, his wife decided I must go kilted. I have settled of my SWK Black Stewart with a deep red dress shirt, charcoal hose, Black Stewart flashes (would go red if I had them...something to order now) and my normal every day black sporran. Sadly, I have no good dress shoes that work with a kilt, so I will be wearing my black monochrome Converse low-tops with red laces, which match the kilt quite well.

Hopefully someone takes a picture and I will post back with the reaction of whomever is there.

Now I need to get ready...I believe I hear a glass of Scottish whiskey calling my name.

Be sure to load up the sporran with some of your business cards and some with this board on the back.
If anything this type of venue should be good for the soul and good for your business.
    Kilt on.

Enjoy, and do see if they serve a decent malt whisky whilst you are there. Or a good draught of ale would do.

Live music is the best kind.

The area of the club was pretty dead, which is fine by me, seeing that I can't stand drunk people ruining live shows. The most frequent comment I got was 'Is it a special occasion?' No kilt checks, sadly, but I do have one funny story. My friend informed me that there is a dress code and that I may want to call down to make sure that I can wear a kilt. When I called, I get a guy from security who is in charge of dress. He tells me that they can't really say no because it is traditional garb. Then he says, after a deep breath, 'I know this is a personal question, but I am going to ask it anyways. Are you going to be completely traditional in the sense that you aren't going to be wearing anything under it?' I laughed a little and told him that was a very personal question, then said that I would be wearing something, knowing that if I fought the issue, I probably wouldn't be let in.

No one asked when I got there. I was prepared to at least ask them if the ask all the women that. All in all, though, it was a good night. And the whiskey was great.

Not to be a spelling Nazi, but...

When it's made in America, Canada or Ireland, it's whiskey.

A dram from the Auld Soil is whisky.
