    Does this outfit work?

Haven't posted on here much but I'm looking for opinions.

I am going to a wedding on Friday and decided on wearing charcoal tweed jacket/waistcoat. Tartan is (Lochcarron Strome) Ancient Hunting Thomson.

I ask these questions as, even though I've worn a kilt to dozens of weddings, events, ceilidhs etc in the past, this is the first time I've worn tweed and value the opinions of (most of) those that post here.

    My main questions are:

    1. Does the overall look work?

    2. Does the blue tie work? I have other options - brown, black, tartan - I like the blue though as I think it goes quite well with the kilt.

    3. Should I go with the sealskin sporran? I have a semi dress - black leather and fur.

    4. Gillie brogues yes or no?

I think the overall look is quite nice, personally I like the look of a solid tie with tartan, so I think the tie is a good choice as it does match the blue in the kilt very well. As you are a guest I think perhaps you should change out the sporran, depending on the time of day the semi formal may look more appropriate. Ghillie Brogues are a matter of personal taste, for a wedding though why not wear them. One last thing, before you go to the wedding be sure to wash your face.

    Outfit

My personal view is that a tweed jacket for daywear is absolutely right. Far too many men, in my humble opinion, wear evening dress ( PC or Argyle with silver buttons) in the daytime for formal events.

The outfit in your pictre is absolutely fine. I like the tie.

Gillie brogues as your personal opinion but they would be correct. I personally hate them at any time !

    Enjoy the wedding.

    Hi Redlichtie,

It works. You can tinker round with everything and change this and that. Some will like it and some will not. I think it all matches and works. If I were going to change anything it would be the Gillie brogues - I always wear Oxfords, but then I always wear Oxfords.

    Go with it.

    Regards

    Chas

Works fine, except for the weird spot in front of the face - makes you look like you are ashamed to be seen in a kilt.

    Ha

    Certainly no shame here.

My face is airbrushed out as I was pulling a goofy face to my wife at the time.

Two thumbs up from me. You might want to choose another sporran, but I wouldn't say you have to.
