Aye, a salute to all of those men (and women) of that generation. My father and three of his cousins (who were really like uncles to me) served then. One spent 4 years in Europe via North Africa, Italy, and France. He also came home with medals and memories he didn't talk about. We didn't even know about the medals until after he had passed and we saw his record.
Sure, I served in Vietnam, but I don't feel I was ever called on to do what they did. Not sure if I could have or was that brave. These people are my heroes.
