Thanks for your input.
I wear black leather ballet flats that I got at Walmart for $8.
Some plain black pumps would look nice too, but I can't wear anything with high heels.

I don't think they meant this.
Who would do that to a cat, anyway?

In January of this year I was in Edinburgh on my way to the Burns Night festivities in Dumfries. I had some time in the afternoon and I went up to the Castle Esplanade and stopped in at the Museum just on the right before you enter the Esplanade.
On display in one section were articles (scarves, skirts, etc.) in this tartan.
My wife has always had a soft spot for Princess Diana so I picked up a scarf for her. She loved the soft blue color.
About 8 weeks ago I convinced her to order a kilted skirt from in the tartan.
It came Monday and she modeled it that evening. My wife hates to be photographed, but I convinced her to do this.
She loves the skirt and the color. However....It is a straight skirt, not the kilted skirt I ordered.
I've written to the firm (who shall remain nameless for a while until I see if they correct their mistake) to ask them to supply the item ordered. If the firm acts promptly and honorably, they might even get a sale on the present skirt, but I would like to see the kilted skirt first.
The tartan is supplied by Locharron and the workmanship and fit are excellent.
It is lighter weight than a kilt, probably 10 oz. but has a full lining down almost to the hem line. The pictures seem to show some difference between the scarf and the skirt. The size of the sett is larger in the scarf it seems. The scarf is a softer weave than the skirt and that may account for part of the difference. I'll have to look at them together more closely. Like anytime I try on a new kilt, you don't look at the details that closely the first time.
We shall see how things turn out.

Hi Tom,
I hope you remember me from your Dumfries trip!
I do hope you and your wife get the skirt issue resolved satisfactorily, we all love our pleats! Though I do have to say she looks fabulous in the straight skirt and scarf. I can't imagine why she dislikes being photographed, she is clearly very photogenic.
Hopefully catch up with you sometime this year, perhaps a' Ferintosh!
all the best

Lasses formal wear?
This seems like a good place to ask this. In November, Michele and I will be going to the Marine Corps Ball. This is a formal event. Currently serving Marines will be in Dress Blues. Most retired/honorably dischared Marines will be in tuxedos. Their ladies will be, i'm told, in short and long gowns, mostly. I will be in my (ready to ship Monday) box pleat Leatherneck kilt from Barb Tewksbury, argyll and vest, and other suitable accessories, including my miniature medals. Would a long tartan skirt (in leatherneck, of course) with white blouse, plaid with broach and other suitable jewlery be sufficiently formal?

At a Dress Ball, with tux's and Blues, ummm nah. I am even wondering if maybe you shouldn't wear your PC. A Ball is as formal as it gets! Of course, it's just my opinion, and it's free, so take it for what it's worth.
Long Black dress, matching shoes and purse, maybe a a sash that matches your kilt?

I would think that would be just fine. I think she'll look grand.

My PC, the man says? Oh the begs and pleading I went through to get Herself to let me order the argyll and waistcoat from Rocky! No way in our current finances is a PC going to happen.
