Bellingham 2009
Another fine gathering at Hovander Park in Ferndale, WA. Great weather, great people and great games. I met some of the local Xmarkers, and like I said at the games, I am really bad with names. I will try and track them down so I can say hi again. I appologized to the guys in advance. The competition was amazing. I updated the Men's A and B scores on Nasga, unfortunately I did not have the Masters, Novice or Womens numbers. Of course after a day of competiontion I had to have a glass or 4 of the Boundry Bay Scotch Ale.
Physical Exertion+Heat+Empty Stomach+beer=really bad memory!
I did have a great games!
Open Stone 17# 36'1.5"
Light Hammer 88'2"
Light WFD 59'10.5"
Heavy WFD 30'6"
Sheaf 20# 20'
WOB 11'
Caber 17' 90# 1:15
This was the order of events for the day. During the Hammer My foot slipped on my pull and I tweaked my back. As you all know your back isn't used in any of these events! But I could not back out, being the first game of the year for me. I fouled out on two of the LWFD throws and one of the HWFD. I ended the day with what I will call 4 PRs. The HWFD was my throw of the day! The other 3 were the Hammer, Sheaf and Caber. The Caber is tough to call a PR but It was the best turn since leaving the Novice/C class. I am going to post a video, hopefully tonight.
Throw far!

Did you stop by the MacKenzie tent to say "hello" to Rod and Ruth? Great folks.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Unfortunately with competing, I don't get a lot of time to wander the festival. Usually on the second day I help the novice guys on the field. Then after the games, many of the tents are packing up shop. I try to meet at least one person a game. I am going to have to get a photo album to take pictures of everyone and paste a name under it. That way I will start to remember names!

Hey, some good numbers! I think if you don't tweak SOMETHING at a Games, you're missing out on the whole experience!

I agree, but it does put a shadow on the next games. I only have another week and a half till Prosser, WA. I know I will be ready, but not being able to train this week is a bummer!

re
Yeah that light hammer and heavy weight are way out there!!
I can't even imagine hitting 30 on the heavy weight for distance. Even breaking 20 was a big deal for me.
I have Heavy events in Caldwell in 3 more days and then 2 weeks later competing again in Mccall, idaho. I feel overworked right now I have actually been practicing too much but trying to get a lot of extra rest this week.

Not bad--especially with a tweak!
