Cool, but shame HRH wasn't also kilted, as he is so often.

Again, one would not expect the Prince of Wales to be wearing the uniform of a Highland regiment at an Investiture at Buckingham Palace. The Royal Navy is the Senior Service in the United Kingdom, hence you see the Royal Family in naval uniform more often ( and of course, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, and The Duke of York all serve/have served in the Navy ). The kilt is worn in Scotland, rarely in England or Wales, as has been pointed out on a recent thread.
