Nicely put together. As said before if you don't like the ghillies don't bother with the laces, unless they are a necessary part of your piping uniform.

As you hail from the great mountain state, I should let you know that I have kin scattered about the state from Huntington all along I-64 through Charleston all the way down to Lewisburg, as well as through out the state of Old Virginia, as virtually all my kinfolk were born in Old or New (west) Virginia, including myself. I get there more frequently now that i have moved back to the lower midwest, so, depending on where you are located, we might get a chance to hook up sometime when I am in the area. PM me if interested.

I think you look great, however, if you are not wearing Ghillie Brogues than do not wear the long laces associated with them. If you have to wear them with your band, then I'd say wear the Ghillies when with the band, the Oxfords with Ghillie laces will not look right when compared to the rest of the band.

Yeah, I kinda need the belt to keep it up, but more to hide my 'pooch'.

I'd like to ask how you feel about the kilt resting high on your natural waist, especially with the more casual look? Mine does that of course and I'm trying to figure out if it's just my waist that is too long/short, or if a kilt would have to be made to fit lower on the body for anyone?
Well, I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I believe technically speaking a properly worn kilt sits above the navel like you and I wear it. If I pull mine down much lower, it will be too low at the knees.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. I'll just pack the laces away in case I ever buy brogues.

Nicely done. I like the look(s).

BTW, I just MUST get myself a Thorfinn original. I love the looks of them! If only money grew on trees.

Very well put together indeed! And you're right, your kilt would be to long if worn down on your hips, I believe that's what casual kilts are for. I have much of the same kit, with the exception of the Thorfinn, (for now.) Good for you!
