Utilikilt mess!
Has anyone tried to order from Utilikilt online lately? I ordered an Original, Black three weeks ago; First it didn't like the last four numbers of my Visa card (?????) So I switched to Discover; waited, and waited for delivery; finally I emailed for Order Status, only to be told two transactions had been cancelled, so no order will be deliverd(???)
(Nice of them to not tell me until I asked!)
So I just tried again. This time no nonsense about the Visa, but it keeps hitting me up for TWO kilts! When I hit "edit", change it to ONE, I then have to re-enter the Credit card stuff all over again. THEN it pops up as TWO kilts again (AAAAAH!) five times I've tried, to no avail; all this for one lousy kilt!
I give up! Anyone got any bright ideas?

I've been hearing that they've had numerous problems with their software. Bypass the problem and call them.

Oh, and let them know that their software is "acting up" again.

I called them and got it all taken care of, Sam was very helpful. I told him about the Site being weird; (It also said my size was in stock (it isn't - 4-6 weeks, but that's fine).
What a morning!

For UKs, I'd check eBay first. There are usually a few dozen [new] for sale there.

You could almost imagine some malevolent force is at work to prevent people buying kilts....

I was flirting with the idea of a UK with a beer gut cut. When I got to the ordering page with the drop-down for that option, 'no' was the only option. I emailed Sam and he said they weren't doing them at the moment but would again in a few months. Sounds like there are some troubles there. The summer festival season has to be one of their best for sales, and to eliminate an option for those of us who are "more substantial" doesn't make a lot of sense.

Utilikilt's "software" has been maverick for years. I ordered a black leather UK and got a brown one because of the radio buttons dancing around back then. Turned out to be a good thing in the long run. Back then wasn't happy at first that they didn't confirm my on line order so I could have checked it. They said it was MY fault for giving them the wrong email addy. They had no response for why I got other emails from them just fine or why they didn't phone me IF the email was bad.
Ever since I've called in my orders and dealt with a human being....even then they've cut back their hours so the hours they take orders are the hours I'm at work so despite frequent cravings for a mocha Survival II when I've tried to call in the order there was no one there to take the order.
I've managed to survive well without a mocha Survival II. I'm a great believer in reality therapy. Experience the consequences of your business decisions. I know they'll survive without my buying a 16th UK.
The other factor with UK is their wild and crazy and loose lifestyle - a wonderful way to work if you work there, but sometimes the looseness trickles down to customer service.

I really love my UK's as a change from my beloved Tartans. Amerikilts not so much, as their pleats twist & curl and only look smart for a couple of wearings, now only good for hanging around indoors, looking beat up very quickly, which is a pity, as I like the look. My UK's on the other hand, still look great after three years.
A bit raunchy on their site, but I find it entertaining, and the service, though not nearly as swift as Jerry at Stillwater, is quite acceptable, and the do indeed try to make things right as soon as they are advised of a problem. My situation was fixed within a couple of hours. Calling in, if possible is the certain way of getting things done.

Next time Stan might I recommend a lovely hemp kilt from RKilts? Nice feel and wears like iron.
