I do love the Islay Spaulding kilt pins, she really is a talent, one day perhaps. But for Catdad, I'd say look for pins on ebay, like someone else said do not limit yourself to kilt pins, one of my favourite kilt pins is a gecko pin I got from ebay for a little over $20 from ebay seller JewelryMart
I think it goes perfectly with the Carolina Tartan.
I got this one on ebay for $4.00

I have found some interesting, affordable pins at antique stores and second-hand shops. Also, I never go to a craft fair, flea market, bazaar, or tourist trap without an eye for the brooches and pins. I've let many good ones go, just because I really didn't need yet another pin. "New Age" shops often sell affordable silver jewelry - occasionally you'll find an unusual pin there. You're in Arizona? Surely you'll find native American artisans and hippy-trippy craftspeople in your region. Don't worry about having exactly the right pin - just enjoy the hunt for one.
Regards,
Rex.

Here is an interesting link, and if you are handy, you could tie up one yourself and save a few bucks. http://www.pbase.com/pdcorlis/flypin
Good luck on the search

For the uneducated, Kokopelli is on petroglyphs all over the Southwest. It is believed he was Zuni and Hopi and was the god of fertility and good harvest.
The folksinger Dean Cook wrote a very funny song about the "humped-back galoot with a parrot and a flute" which talks about Kokopelli's newfound popularity. My favorite line is:

Go to E-Bay, Type in the search area "Kilt Pin."

Rex has a good idea, look at the odd shops, garage sales, Goodwill, ect. I am sure, in Az, you can find a Kokepelli brooch, that will make a very nice kilt pin. Pawn shops might be another option, but the prices might be a bit higher, since hopefully, the items will be made of silver( look for the numbers 925 stamped on the back). What will make this pin more special, is the journey taken, to find it. I lived in the northeast part of the state and I had the pleasure of traveling many parts of the state.. Very beautiful.. Could be an excuse for a decent road trip... LOL you never know what you may find, and to use it for a kilt pin..Good luck and have fun! Oh yeah.. You have to wear the traditional search clothes too... Plaid shorts, sandals with white socks, and a Hawaiin shirt..topped off with a straw hat...LOL
