    Before passing judgement I would like to see one of these rosettes actually in use on a kilt in an outfit. I think in certain dress situations it might look alright, such as pipers and weddings, etc...

    The pipe band that my clan society sponsors in Scotland, the Buchan Pipe Band, wears rosettes as kilt pins:
