    So I've googled but...what is a TANK?

I assume it's an acronym but the only one I can find on google is "Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky"

If you'd be so kind to share a definition or 2

    Tank?
    MOD?

and any others you can think of

    For "tank" see the FAQ.

MOD is Ministry of Defense, I think. I would like to see that one added to the FAQ myself.

    Regards,
    Rex.

Depending on the context, "Mod" may be used to refer to moderator... as in a forum moderator.

I've never heard MOD used to describe a kilt, but in this forum, Mod is used for "Moderators".

Tank is defined in the FAQ's (frequently asked questions, that is!):
A 'TANK' is defined as an eight-yard, wool, hand-sewn, traditional kilt. ie., "It's built like a tank." (coined by Jimmy Carbomb c.2005)

I believe Rex is right, and that will be referring to Ministry of Defense... as in kilts originally made for military use. You'll often see that in ads for military surplus kilts.

I think you're right about that, Skaut... I think using the term to describe an 8yd kilt was coined here. My guess based on the phrase, "built like a tank" used to describe something that is so well-built it could last forever.
