Thanks for posting those pics. I had a great aunt and great great aunt who lived in Alexandria but haven't been there in a very long time.

Thanks for the quick tour. It's been twenty years since I was back there. It's always nice to catch up with family.

Those are great photo's thanks... You do look the business in that xmarks box. No wonder you were stealing the crowd. On the corner of King Street and Royal Street you say? I wonder where those names came from.

Right, we once were a Royal Colony, you know. My fair county Spotsylvania is named honoring the Royal Lt. Governor Alexander Spotswood who was appointed in 1710. Interesting enough the the city of Fredericksburg was named after George II's eldest son, Frederick, the Prince of Wales. He would have been George III if had not had a premature death giving succession to his younger brother. What could have been!

Interesting the what if's of history. I'm sure we would have ended up the same in a round-about way except the British may have been a few pots of tea to the good. (Don't think we've forgotten that terrible waste of our national drink. Those Bostonians have much to answer for...) It should be noted at this juncture, I'm a coffee man myself.

Daniel OConnell's is well worth a visit; I watched Scotland beat Italy and Ireland beat England there in the Six Nations earlier this year. It's the first Irish pub I've been to in the States that was full of Irish! Good guinness, rugby, and a proper breakfast with real bacon!
