Cut steel shoe buckles look pretty snappy. IMHO

You know... at some point I do plan to get shiney black shoes with the buckle across the instep for my formal-ish outfit. I'm just not at that stage of planning yet.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Those seem to be the difficult buttons to find.
You know, Ted, that the buttons can all be the same size? I wouldn't sweat it; in fact I think the larger buttons look nicer.

Oh! I had no idea. Thanks for telling me that.
Actually, that makes things a bit easier on me; it makes things much much simpeler.

Ditto. Thanks for that info JSFMACLJR, I do agree the larger buttons look better.

Hmmm, bespoke buttons for a jacket hand tailored to fit correctly... That sounds good.
.
Add to that a jabot, special design sporran, and buckle shoes; I think that's where I would like to end up.

On my Braemer jacket the sleeve buttons are the larger ones, but the ones on the pocket flaps and epaulets are 1/2" (13mm).
6mm (1/4") are really too small for jackets. That is about the size of a shirt button.

Well... Now that I don't have to worry about finding tiny buttons, it has opened up quite a few options.
But I guess there's no reason to limit myself to a single set of buttons, or to be in a hurry about it.
Little bit different subject, looking at all the tartan fabric I cut out of the fell area of my kilt the other day... I might be able to have someone help me piece those together so that I could make a vest front...
It's quite a bit.. The kilt also fits much better now.
