I'm sure Dan is not making any suggestions that you are not who you say you are.

That's all we ask. Wrap it on and wear it with pride.

Dude I'm so Canadian it oozes, I'll gladly spare a bit so that you can wear the Maple Leaf without concern. Find Canada on a map (hint; it America's attic) so much the better.

Col, I recall the designer of the Leatherneck tartan is/was a member here at XMarks.

ColMacneal - I've been watching this post with pleasure. It's one that could have gone off the rails but has not. I attribute that to the levelheadedness of the Marines that post here. I live close by Camp Lejeune and MCAS Cherry Point and have nothing but pride for the way our local Marines conduct themselves. To honor them, the kilt I am currently jonesing for is genuine Dessert Marpat.

So, with respect sir, this is one post that I don't think the moderators need to close just yet.

Found the post, FYI ColMac as the question has been asked before and will be asked again. Please note post #17, that of Bob Hall designer of the tartan. There is no doubt that you will wear it with pride and honour.

    Thanks BD,
I was just trying to be a responsible X-Marker (no kidding) and try to prevent this thread from being deleted.
    Cheers ColMac

Being one of the older Marines on this board, my opinion, for what it is worth goes along this path. Wear the kilt, and wear it proudly. No EGA, those come at a very high price.

    1. To put it bluntly, anyone can wear any tartan. (Even the Balmoral tartan.)
    2. The Leatherneck tartan isn't official, so..well..it's not official.
    3. Well, 2 is just not enough. It looks better with more.
    4. See?

I thought it was official I stand corrected.
There was a story in leatherneck magazine a couple of years a go with a Capt. Stodgill on the cover in full dress Plaid, Tunic, Kilt,Sporran In leatherneck tartan.
I was in contact with this guy for about 2 years and we and many other marines were trying to make it official and have an official Marine Corps pipe band using leatherneck as the tartan. To see what the full uniform consits of go to www.cuillinn.com some really good stuff there.

I see no problem with someone honoring my Corps. I do have a problem with someone that is trying to pass themselves off as a prior Marine that was not one. If you wear the tartan, I say wear it with pride and give a shout out to other Marines that you pass.
